Thanks to Leanne's comments as a beta-reader, my short stories have improved. One of them, "Meteorite" has been published in Story-Quilt, a Canadian literary magazine. Another, "Fire from the Sky" appeared in Aphelion Science Fiction Magazine. Leanne's comments on earlier versions of these stories were significant. Her patience and understanding were invaluable to me. Because of her, I am a better writer. ~ Jim D.
Leanne has way of making everybody feel good about what they are accomplishing...she also has a way of handling challenges like few others can manage. ~ Mike T. Leanne Myggland Carter, guest speaker at West Edmonton Writers (WOW) group presented, on our request: Do we need an editor? What is the function of the editor? When do we need an Agent, and what is the function of the Agent? Publishing: online, print, self-publishing? Leanne also talked about establishing an online presence e.g Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. After this very useful information, she gave the group a very interesting literary prompt...write a list of positive symbols. Then, write a list of negative symbols. Now, choose one of each and write any genre short story – 5 minutes. Then we were given the opportunity to read our stories. FANTASTIC!! All of this in about an hour. Thank you so much Leanne, for your wisdom, experience, advice, and encouragement. ~ Joy P. Share your comments. |
